American League Tour of Japan : scrapbook, 1934.

A collection of black-and-white photographs relating to the tour of Japan in 1934 by the American League. Players who toured included Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Earl Averill and many more. Connie Mack was the team's manager. A full page of autographs by the American League players and the Japanese team is also part of the scrapbook. This scrapbook was a gift to the American League sent by the Japanese.

George Herman Ruth was born February 6, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland to Katherine and George Herman Ruth Sr. In 1902, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, an orphanage and reformatory, at the age of seven to teach him discipline. Connie Mack played for the Washington Statesmen (1886-1889), Buffalo Bisons (1890), and Pittsburgh Pirates (1891-1896). Mack is best known, however, as a manager.
